PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Area: 190 m²

Client: Events Edmonton

Date: 2012

Designed for New Years Eve celebrations 2012 in Edmonton's central Churchill Square, the IT Pavilion (within its 8 week existence) will house exhibits & public gatherings showcasing the city's new open-source data initiatives, as well as its involvement with the 'Northern Cities Consortium'. It will be erected with scaffolding, wrapped in shrink wrap, and internally lined with plywood. It was the intention to stretch the expressive limits of these materials (and their combinations) to produce what is outwardly glacier-like, with in the interior a luminous, cathedral-esque space of contemplation, discovery and connection.
