Design Process & Aesthetics
Rather than approaching a given project with preconceived notions, we
begin with a unique dialogue with clients and stakeholders to clarify the
specific requirements and aspirations of the project, maximize its site
potential, and identify any latent opportunities for creative solutions
that can exceed expectations. Drawing from our considerable body
of experience in leading and moderating discussions among diverse
stakeholders — to beneficial outcomes for all parties involved — we
pride ourselves in considering all evidence on the table as the basis from
which a holistic design concept can emerge. This, in our experience, is
the best way to arrive at wholesome and elegant architecture, which is
at its core practical and efficient, and generates agreement and delight
among those who will ultimately inhabit and use the space.
Our design aesthetics tend to favour strong geometric forms and
refined material palettes, always in dialogue with the unique features
of a given environment. Laconic and understated, our designs exercise
subtlety, restraint and concision. The fewest number of deft gestures to
communicate an idea with clarity and impact will always be our preferred
mode. In this way, our architecture aspires for moods of calmness,
introspection and introversion, which may exist in distinctive contrast to
the hustle and bustle of a building’s activities. In creating architecture
that fosters tranquillity, inwardness and clearness of thought, we strive
to offer an antidote to the dizzying overstimulation of modern urban
life.
