We create architecture that fosters community engagement, collaboration and contemplation. Early results in international design competitions propelled the initial phase of our practice and established a long-standing passion for and expertise in complex cultural and community-based buildings, which respect their surrounding landscapes and urban contexts. This approach has continued and deepened in our current public sector work, which focuses on community and institutional work. Believing in the socially transformative power of this type of architecture, we have been deeply involved in many facets of community and stakeholder consultations, and in translating the results of these processes into final products that build consensus among diverse groups, generate excitement and contribute to the economic and environmental sustainability of neighbourhoods. Parallel to our work in Canada, AXIA established in 2016 a Hong Kong office to manage a number of projects throughout Asia, such as development projects and urban revitalization initiatives.
