With sensitivity and in a collaborative manner, we can guide discussions
and provide assessments about the treatment of the original fabric,
what can be restored or would better be excised, and any new additions.
Recognizing that history and heritage aren’t static entities, but rather
are themselves constantly in a state of flux and reassessment, we see
our adaptive reuse projects as hybrid creations that stage an interesting
dialogue between collective memory and the present moment. Just
as cities are continually changing and assuming new purposes, so too
should traditional buildings and spaces. Where feasible, we pay homage
to the fine craftsmanship of the past by preserving historical motifs and
allowing them to offer inspiration to the new design.
