Located in Causeway Bay, one of Hong Kong’s most vibrant shopping districts, the site of this commercial tower enjoys breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour, as well as proximity to a dramatically curving elevated highway. The client envisioned a thirty-eight storey tower, focused on restaurants and bars, and asked AXIA to come up with a design that would be feasible despite the smallness of the site, hemmed in by surrounding towers.

Taking inspiration from the curvaceous, high velocity highway, the design of the tower subtly twists as it rises. The fully glazed curtainwall gradually torques in a prismatic shape, becoming more voluminous at the top. This means that upper-level units are more spacious and have the advantage of the best vistas of the water and the city’s iconic skyline. The building is structured as three vertical volumes, separated by outdoor terraces, reserved for signature restaurants.

The lobby strives for an enigmatic mood, illuminated by the soft glow of atmospheric lighting. Fiberglass concrete panels — artfully cast in the shape of undulating curtains — bring a subtle sense of cinematic mystery to this interior space. High-speed glass elevators further contribute to the drama and spectacle, allowing restaurant patrons to fully experience the excitement of the city’s verticality. A futuristic, otherworldly feeling, reminiscent of a sci-fi film, is what this tower offers, particularly at its top levels where Michelin-starred dining awaits.
